About Me

I started in carpentry when is was 14. A carpenter was working on my father’s house and I was instantly captured ,and knew immediately that it was what i wanted to do for a living. I worked with this gentleman (David McMinn, a several time award winning heritage restoration carpenter) building many decks fences and heritage renovations. I got a great start to my career, learning about carpentry and restoration. I worked after school and full time during the summer with him for 3 years. He taught me many cool things, I still call him for his invaluable advice 22 years later.

I decided to move to Vancouver when i was 18 and go to BCIT to get my Red Seal in carpentry. While i was going to school I worked for a company that was building homes for some of Vancouver’s elite. We built massive and amazing homes for people from  foundation to finish. I was incredibly lucky to work with the Carpenters that I did, because I learnt so many things that molded me for my future. I worked with these guys for the better part of 10 years, I was able to travel all over North America building amazing homes.

In 2003 I finished my Red seal At BCIT. I decided that I wanted to learn more about building and how everything works. I was offered a job with a gentleman that was building Strip malls and doing some home renovations in between some of the larger jobs. I ended up working my way up to being a supervisor for large jobs after 2 years of working on the tools and learning my trade in Industrial construction. I was in charge of 100s of millions in construction. I was in charge of over a 100 guys some times and keeping the project moving along with little or no mistakes. I learnt so much in the 4 years that I did this.Learning to keep a job like this going need lots of planning and foresight, and also knowing your trade and everyone else’s trade as well in order to keep a job moving along safely and efficiently. After doing this for long enough I decided , and realized that my heart was in building people there dreams on a smaller scale. I missed the personal connection of working with someone in their home, whether it was a small deck or a full renovation and everything in between.

So I decided to Start a company Specializing in making people’s old houses better with small improvements or massive improvements. We have been at this for 4 years now building and renovating. I know have myself a crew of 8 amazing Girls and Guys. We are young and fun and very talented group of Carpenters. We love what we do and i feel like everyone is happy doing what they do. We love working with the clients and all the challenges it has in building people’s homes. I feel like I am fulfilling a childhood dream, and feel very lucky to have found my passion in life. Something that I am very good at and love doing.

“…I met Jeremy over a year ago at the very beginning of our upcoming major house build. He was to be our site manager. How was I to know at that time that Jeremy would become an integral part of my daily existence for the entire year as we worked together to build my family’s dream home. Now that we’re nearing completion, I can easily reflect on the project: its positives and its negatives. Working with Jeremy has definitely been a positive…”

“…The most important aspect (aside from his technical skills) is the fact that he cares.”
